Riverside sits south of downtown along the St. Johns River. Though primarily residential, it boasts some of the city’s most notable examples of residential architecture. The neighbor was build on plantation land, which was developed prior to the Civil War. After the war, investors purchased pieces of the land to develop a residential suburb of Jacksonville. The neighborhood was later annexed by Jacksonville, quickly becoming one of the city’s most promising residential areas. In fact, Riverside Avenue has a reputation as being one of the most beautiful streets in America. With bungalows, brownstones, Mediterranen-revival gems, and 20th century homes, the neighborhood has some of the most beautiful buildings in the city.


In addition to history and architecture, Riverside houses several trendy restaurants, clubs, and independently-owned boutiques. The area has a fun, youthful atmosphere, making it a popular destination for a younger crowd.


To that end, this is an excellent home base for young professionals who work downtown—the exact demographic who would rent a luxury apartment. Luckily, there are many luxury options in this area, making it the perfect neighborhood for younger people. Additionally, the neighborhood’s proximity to St. Vincent Hospital makes this an excellent location for doctors and nurses wanting additional proximity to work.
